COVID-19 Impact on Airport Traffic Analysis
The objective of this analysis is to examine the reduction or increase in the number of passengers before, during, and after the COVID-19 restrictions. Identify domestic vs. international travel trends, and passenger demographics changes (e.g., business vs. leisure). Analyze the number of flights and routes affected by the pandemic.
Key Observations from the analysis include:
✪ Four (4) countries were represented, and 28 Airports were represented across 27 Cities.
✪ A total number of 7247 flights was recorded.
✪ USA had the highest percentage of baseline with 286,271, while Chile had the lowest with 8,157 percentage of baseline.
Recommendations
✪ Adopt Comprehensive Hygiene Measures: Continue enforcing stringent cleaning and sanitation
protocols in airports, including touchless check-in, security screening, and boarding processes.
✪ Improve Passenger Communication: Provide clear, transparent information about health protocols,
testing requirements, and safety measures to ensure passengers feel confident about traveling.
✪ Implement Advanced Screening Technologies: Invest in technologies like biometric scanning and
health monitoring tools (e.g., thermal cameras) to reduce physical contact and expedite passenger
processing while ensuring safety.
